In a nutshell: In late 2002, colonoscopy was introduced as a primary screening tool for colorectal cancer (CRC) in Germany. We aimed to estimate the expected reduction in case numbers and incidence of CRC between 2003 and 2010 by detection and removal of advanced adenomas.

In a nutshell: After 30 years of continued growth and progress, the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) through its Executive Committee recently agreed on the need to launch a major strategic plan that would carefully analyze the current status of oncology and the needs of our members and that would assist us in selecting our priorities on multiple fronts in years to come . This article outlines the new plan.
